Emulation Technology Announces New BGA Socket Emulator Adapter

First of its kind adapter converts a BGA production socket into an emulator adapter







SANTA CLARA, Calif., November 11, 2002 - Emulation Technology, Inc. (ET), the industry's leading manufacturer and marketer of Adapters, Sockets and Interconnect Solutions has extended its broad range of emulator adapters with its first of its kind, new BGA Emulator Adapter. The new adapter was created for design, software and test engineers testing and debugging BGA (Ball Grid Array) packaged devices. The adapter allows users to plug a male emulator cable into a target board. This can be used for testing, emulation or board-to-board interconnect.

Emulation Technology's new BGA Socket Emulator Adapter is a welcome addition to its extensive line of BGA tools and adapters supporting thru-hole and surface-mount target systems. "The BGA Socket Emulator Adapter is a truly unique and easy solution for test engineers testing and debugging BGA packaged devices," notes Joe Bagliere, President, Emulation Technology, Inc. "It is the first of its kind. It was created to convert a BGA production socket into an emulator adapter. The adapter's unique design ensures signal integrity and flexibility. The new adapter quickly and easily converts an Emulation Technology screw-lock SMT or thru-hole BGA production socket into an emulator pod receptacle for JTAG or similar testing. The adapter complements the ET production screw-lock socket and provides direct access to all BGA pins for an emulator connection. The adapter can also act as a BGA surface mountable base for users who want to plug an ET logic analyzer/scope adapter for individual or mass pin probing.

Pricing for the BGA Socket Emulator Adapter start at $800.00 (two piece minimum), and is shipped stock to 5 weeks. The BGA Emulator Adapter is currently available in 1.27mm pitch and available in the pin configurations noted below:
