SANTA CLARA, Calif., December 9, 2002 - Emulation Technology, Inc. (ET), the industry's leading manufacturer and marketer of Adapters, Sockets, Test Clips and Interconnect Solutions has announced testing and debugging support for Micron's new DDR (double-data-rate) SDRAM (synchronous DRAM) memory devices. ET provides direct IC testing and debugging with two of it's uniquely designed test clips which give test and design engineers a hands-free, accurate and non-invasive means to test and debug Micron's new DDR memory devices in TQFP and TSOP package styles.
DDR SDRAM is considered a moderate-power, high speed volatile memory with an architecture which allows for the sending and receiving of twice the amount of information (double-data-rate) with every cycle of the systems clock. This increased rate dramatically improves performance of the processor which is important in desktop computers, servers and workstations, and is often used as buffer memories in switching equipment and network processors.
ET's test clips are reliable and easy to use. Because the clips snap on, or piggy-back, onto the IC packages, the test clips' unique designs promote an accurate, secure and non-invasive way to make contact with IC pins for Micron's DDR devices in the TQFP and TSOP package styles. Test points on the top of the clips provide a quick connection to test cable assemblies, test probes or wire wraps, and can be used with a variety of test equipment including logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
ET's TQFP Test Clip (part # CLIP-100-QF06-2) supports Micron's 64MB (part #'s MT46V2M32V1 and MT46V2M32) and 128MB (part #MT46V4M32) DDR memory devices in the TQFP package. This test clip uses wedge-shaped conductors manufactured with beryllium copper and kapton insulation which conform to the size and the shape of each pin when inserted. The test clip's wedge-shaped conductor design promotes a redundant electrical contact to each pin as each wedge contains two conductors.
ET's TSOP Test Clip (part# CLIP-066-T222-2) supports Micron's 128MB, 256MB and 512MB (see table below for supported part numbers) DDR memory devices. This test clip incorporates the wedge-shaped conductor design used in ET's TQFP Test Clip, but also meets the probing challenges associated with the package's small lead pitch and overall size, namely shorted pins or intermittent connections.
