Emulation Technology offers a broad selection of PC/104 and PC/104+ connectors and hardware. ET's PC/104 and PC/104+ connectors meet or exceed the specifications ratified by the PC/104 Embedded Consortium (http://www.pc104.org/). We offer easy-to-install press-fit and solder-array versions, as well as standard-solder versions of all connectors, for those preferring a standard mounting process. Furthermore, stack through, non stack through, combination 64+40 pin PC/104 connectors, end-of-stack headers, shrouds, cover plates, mounting hardware and tools are all available from Emulation Technology. Finally, for those preferring to hand-solder, we offer single row versions of the connectors to facilitate the process. Please note that all of Emulation Technology's PC/104 and PC/104+ products are certified RoHS compliant.
Emulation Technology's PC/104 connectors use a DIN style contact. The DIN "spring leaf" contact has been a proven high reliability design used in DIN back plane connectors for many years. It provides a superior contact over the typical "fork" designs used by other suppliers. The DIN contact is more forgiving to stress caused by mis-mating. You can feel the difference with our PC/104 connectors.
Press-Fit Connectors
Emulation Technology's press-fit technology completely eliminates the need for soldering connectors to the PCB. The connector pins' eye-of-the-needle design provides a compliant yet strong connection to the PCB. The advantages of press-fit technology over standard-solder are numerous: thermal stresses, cold solder joints, fumes and stray solder on the mating surfaces of the pins are completely eliminated, not to mention the impracticability of soldering a 4x30 array of 2mm pitch pins for the PC/104+ connector! Emulation Technology's press-fit tools simplify the mounting of these connectors.
Single and Double Row Standard-Solder Connectors
The most obvious drawback for hand soldering PC/104 and PC/104+ connectors is the requirement of 4 parallel rows of contacts to be hand soldered. The tight spacing between the rows and length of the stack through contacts makes the use of a soldering iron difficult. Although press-fit and solder-array varieties of the connectors are available, customers who do not wish to expend resources in the tools required may be hard-pressed (pun intended) to find an effective solution. Emulation Technology, Inc. provides a solution for these PC/104+ module manufacturers by providing single- and double-row variants for all PC/104 and PC/104+ connectors, thus simplifying the process of attaching these connectors to the PCB with existing equipment.
